Culture Commission

FETAV Tourism and Promotion Commission is carrying out its activities for 2008-2009 period under the responsibility of Board member Mustafa ŞIKMAN with Ünal Şöhret DİRLİK, researcher on folklore-author, acting as chairman.

 

Decisions taken and the work programme established during the meetings of the Commission are as follows:

 

  1. On special days and weeks, commemorative nights of Ataturk will be organized and exhibitions will be held of photographs and books on Ataturk.
  2. For the purpose of supporting the poets, researchers and authors of Fethiye, to promote their works, informal chats will be organized where the authors will sign their books and exhibitions of books will be held.
  3. Visits to and cultural activities at the Old Peoples' Home and Boys' Orphanage will continue.
  4. Commemorative programs will be organized for poets of Fethiye, Cahit ÖZKANLI, Oktay KUŞKONMAZ,. Hamit KESKİN, and for famous author Cahit BEĞENÇ. The book entitled "Scriptures on Fethiye", covering stories and memoirs about Fethiye will be published.
  5. In coordination with the Fethiye Municipalities and the Rotary Club, the second Yunus Nadi Activities will be organized between the dates of the 27th of April and the 2nd of May, 2009.
  6. On the 21st of March, 2009, to celebrate the "World Day of Poetry", an activity will be organized under the title "Mediterranean Poetry Evenings" where poets from the Aegean and the Mediterranean regions will be invited.
  7. Work aimed at providing support to school libraries other needs of the school will be continued in collaboration with the FIG Group; furthermore, the authors and poets who are members of the Culture Commission, invited for visits, .will go to schools and talk about Atatürk, Fazıl Hüsnü DAĞLARCA and education.
  8. Activities such as Turkish Language Courses, bazaars, etc. instigated in coordination with the Fethiye International Work Group, FIG, and the Çalış Carnival Committee will continue and efforts will be made to increase the number of scholarships for university students.
  9. Projects will be prepared to benefit from funds of EU, to receive support for all the projects of our Foundation, especially in the field of education.
  10. An exhibition will be organized along the coastline of photographs of Faruk AKBAŞ from his private collection, displaying the culture and natural features of our town, as a promotional effort.
  11. Efforts will be made to start publishing a periodical for the promotion of our towni especially featuring culture and fine arts, in line with the aims of FETAV.
  12. It will be attempted to organize a "Fethiye Symposium" dealing with all the features of our town.
  13. TV programmes will be prepared about our activities and our work will be made public through the press media.
  14. Contacts will be maintained with the associations of Natives of Fethiye in Izmir, Ankara and Antalya, and cultural activities will be organized in coordination especially with the association in Izmir for the promotion of our town.
  15. Coordinated endeavours with other non-governmental organizations in our town will continue to be maintained.
